Frequently Asked Questions

A.

What is the warranty on Sonnet's iPod replacement batteries?

A.

Sonnet's iPod replacement batteries come with a one-year limited warranty from the date of purchase.

A.

How difficult is it to install a Sonnet iPod replacement battery?

A.

All Sonnet iPod replacement batteries come with the necessary tools to perform the installation. Sonnet also includes a CD-ROM with short, easy-to-follow QuickTime videos (in English, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish) of how to perform the iPod battery replacement. If you follow the installation videos carefully, you should have no problems performing the task yourself; however, due to the higher level of difficulty installing a replacement battery in an iPod mini, we recommend professional installation.

If you need professional installation of your iPod replacement battery, a Sonnet authorized iPod battery service center will perform the installation for a small fee.

A.

What are the different battery capacities? What does mAh mean?

A.

Sonnet sells the highest capacity batteries on the market for your iPod. A battery's total capacity is determined by milliamp hour (mAh) rating. A longer mAh rating will generally mean longer play time for your iPod between charges.

A.

Which iPod do I own?

A.

Apple has released several generation of iPods and it can be a little confusing to determine which model you own. To easily identify your iPod, please see our iPod Compatibility Chart.

A.

How do I know if my iPod needs a replacement battery?

A.

Over time, all rechargeable batteries lose their charge and require replacement. If you've owned your iPod for more than one to two years, odds are your iPod's original battery has lost most of its original charge capacity. If you've found your iPod playtime has dramatically decreased since the time you purchased it, you are in need of a simple battery replacement from Sonnet. Find your iPod model from our iPod Compatibility Chart and click the Buy Now button. It's that simple to love your iPod even longer.

A.

Do you offer batteries for iPod with video (5G)?

A.

Yes. Sonnet now offers replacement batteries for fifth generation iPod that offer same capacity as the original factory installed battery.

A.

Do you offer batteries for first and second generation iPod nano?

A.

No. First generation iPod nano has a soldered in battery that is not user replaceable. Second generation iPod nano uses the latest battery technology and offers the highest capacities for its size—nobody can offer a better battery than Apple's originals at this time. Since this particular iPod model still falls well within their 1-year warranty, Apple covers battery failure.
